“I just want to be known as someone that works really hard and be known as someone that can put my mind to something and get it done. I want to be someone that is compassionate, I just want to be someone that people can go to if they need help and I want my patients to see me as someone that is really there for them even if it's just my first day working with them or a week into it I just want to be someone that they know they could go to, I can get the job done, I can advocate for them and we can try to have some fun and some smiles along the way." "When I started nursing school I was fairly young and I was really nervous going in. I just wanted to meet as many people as I could, and one of the organizations we had on campus was the National Student Nurses Association.
I just got into it as a regular member and then eventually I got elected as treasurer and then I went on to be elected as vice-president and eventually president. The two years that I spent in that organization really helped me grow as a leader and it really helped me build the confidence with my peer group, to be able to meet upper class men and follow in their footsteps, take the advice from them and now be able to give that advice to other students."
“For me being a woman is about being strong and breaking through boundaries. I’m a first generation Indian American. My parents moved here to give myself and my brother a better life. My mom never stopped. She got her bachelors and it took her 6 years, then at the age of 50 she went back and got her masters.
To have someone that strong in my life, to have a woman that strong in my life has really pushed me to be the strongest person I could be.
Seeing how strong she is and seeing all the things she’s accomplished just shows me how much I’ll be able to accomplish if I just put my mind into it.” Roma Patel @romattoo, Nursing Student. ❤️🎬 #RealCaregiversRealStories#HappyMothersDay #NursesWeek
