My name is Dorothy Faye (also known as “_dorothyfaye” via Instagram).

I am a third-year medical student and currently in search of the specialty field fit for me.

Rockin' one of the newest colors from @barco.uniforms Barco One collection. ✌🏽 Bahama blue reminds me of the beach 😌🌊 What are you lovely friends up to this weekend?!

“Many times I get caught up in complaining how tough it gets, but what I need to be doing is more thanking and praising God for allowing me to be here & furthering my education. To be able to influence and touch many people’s lives, whether it be my future patients or those who are following my journey here on social media.”

Woke up at 5am today, got to the hospital at 6:30am to round with my preceptor. Then by 8am we started seeing patients in the clinic, took a couple breaks throughout the day, and got home by 7pm. Today was my first day in my family medicine rotation, and I must say, I'm enjoying it so far. I can't wait for all that 3rd year has to offer 😌

“ Make time for OTHER THINGS. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of school, but I need to remember to make some time for myself #SelfCare”

One unknown fact: some may already know, but a majority of people don't know that I can play the drums! (PS: it's been a long time though)

When your scrub game is gonna be on point thanks to @allheartscrubs - not yet wearing scrubs for rotations since I'm in FM, and mostly in the clinic but I'll surely be wearing these #C3Scrubs when I get the chance 😍

Something I've been doing this past week is picking out my outfit the night before, since I have to wear business casual pretty much everyday. This way, I avoid wasting time in the morning! I also try to prep the food I'll be taking for lunch & snacks. And also my purse & white coat.

What are some ways your streamline your morning routine?

Why I chose to go to into medicine: I believe that being in medicine, particularly as a future doctor I will be able to influence so many people's lives. Whether it's by redirecting them to help make healthier choices, or giving medical advice to better their quality of life. I am currently a medical student, so reminding myself of my "why" is super important.

Don't let this smile fool you. Medical school is by no means a cake walk. It's a lot of hard work, lots of sacrifices, being homesick (if you're not close to home), lots of late nights, frustrations, wondering when it'll all be over, and more. I forget sometimes that this is the very thing I prayed to God for, the very thing I dreamed about. Many times I get caught up in complaining how tough it gets, but what I need to be doing is more thanking and praising God for allowing me to be here & furthering my education. To be able to influence and touch many people's lives, whether it be my future patients or those who are following my journey here on social media...

As promised (if you were watching @allheartscrubs IG stories), here is my #whitecoatwardrobe for today's last OMT Clinic! It's really a cross between dressy casual and business casual. When it's cold I love wearing black boots because it really gives a polished look still without freezing my toes off. And then I go with longer length sweaters too, so that helps! What are YOUR tips and tricks of pulling off the professional look without freezing

“As a current medical student, something big that I’ve come to realize is that balance is important. I still need to maintain life outside of school. And I believe that will translate into when I will be working as a physician.”

“Something I’m learning is that people (and myself included), are always wanting what’s next. But I say, enjoy the now. Things might be tough but it’ll only make you stronger. If things are already going well for you, cherish those moments. Let’s be grateful for the things we’re blessed with and continue to reach for our goals.”

Remember the scrubs I was wearing in my IG stories last night? Well, here they are! (The lighting last night was not doing it justice). The aqua color reminds me of the beach 😌🌊 which I miss so much right now. About 3 weeks left until board exams 🙈 what are some of your favorite ways to relax/wind down (esp when you're not near the beach).
